Disclaimer
Understand what our website, preliminary estimates and appraisal services can—and cannot—tell you.
General information, not legal or tax advice
This website provides general information about vehicle value, appraisals and insurance claims, with an Oregon focus. It is not legal, tax or financial advice for your circumstances. Diminished Value of Oregon is not a law firm. Using the website, submitting an estimate request or purchasing an appraisal does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Contact a qualified Oregon attorney about liability, insurance coverage disputes, releases, notices, court filings, attorney fees and limitation periods. If another state is involved, the applicable law may differ. Do not delay required notices or filings while waiting for our response.
Estimates, appraisals and inspections are different
A free estimate is a preliminary review based on information provided. It is not a final appraisal, binding offer, physical inspection, repair-quality certification or safety assessment. A paid appraisal is a professional opinion of value for its stated purpose, date, assumptions and scope.
We do not offer free physical inspections or free auto-body repair inspections. A physical inspection, repair evaluation, expert testimony or other additional service requires an agreed scope and additional fees. Refer to your written service agreement for what is included.
No guaranteed settlement
An insurer, opposing appraiser, court or other decision-maker may disagree with an appraisal. We do not promise eligibility, coverage, acceptance of a report, a particular recovery amount or a settlement date. A sample, illustrative calculation, testimonial or prior result is not a prediction of your outcome.
Any appraisal-fee refund is subject to the applicable written guarantee conditions. It is not a guarantee that an insurer will pay the appraisal amount.
Sources and legal references
We use official Oregon statutes, court decisions and agency guidance where relevant and link to them so readers can check the source. A court decision depends on its facts and issues; a short explanation is not a complete legal analysis. Laws, interpretations and agency guidance can change after a page is reviewed.
We also review questions commonly discussed by other appraisal companies to identify topics readers may find useful. We write our own explanations. Competitor websites are not legal authority, and their guarantees, prices, eligibility rules or service promises do not apply to Diminished Value of Oregon.
Third-party links and insurer contacts
External websites operate under their own terms and privacy practices. A link does not mean affiliation, endorsement or responsibility for that site’s content. Company names and trademarks identify their respective owners.
Our insurance directory distinguishes claims contacts from general correspondence and policy addresses. Verify the exact insurer, claim number, recipient and mailing or upload instructions before sending documents. Directory entries are not instructions for service of legal process.
Your information and service agreement
Provide complete and accurate vehicle, repair and claim information, including earlier damage and any signed release. Missing or inaccurate information can affect a value conclusion. Requesting an estimate does not by itself authorize paid work or establish claim representation. Any separately agreed public-adjusting service is governed by its own agreement and applicable licensing requirements.
Our privacy policy explains handling of information submitted through the website. Service terms and written engagement documents govern the work you purchase.
